The following statement is from James Lyall, Executive Director, ACLU of Vermont:
“We are deeply saddened to learn the Pride Center of Vermont is pausing its operations. Our hearts go out to the staff, volunteers, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to sustain the organization’s educational, public health, and community-building programs and services over the years.
This is an especially difficult time for Vermont to lose a pillar of the state’s queer and trans community, as LGBTQIA+ communities nationwide face growing threats to their rights and dignity. Queer and trans Vermonters need and deserve access to spaces where they can seek refuge and be fully seen and celebrated for who they are. That is what the Pride Center has offered for over two decades. As the fight for liberation continues, we will honor their vital legacy."
