It has been a year of historic and related crises — but as traumatic and difficult as this year has been, there have also been glimpses of a better society, in which the promise of American democracy is fulfilled.
In Vermont, you helped us pass historic criminal law reforms, win protections for Vermont immigrant communities targeted by ICE and Border Patrol, and advance transformative police reforms. And that’s to say nothing of the nationwide ACLU’s victories in defense of voting rights, reproductive freedom, racial justice, and LGBTQ rights — you were a part of those efforts also.
