The ACLU and the Peace and Justice Center are teaming up to help present the film "After Innocence" at the Green Mountain Film Festival in Montpelier.
The film examines the lives of inmates who are exonerated -- let out of jail because they were wrongly incarcerated. In many cases, the inmates were serving long terms. Some were on death row.
Since 1993, when DNA evidence became available in criminal investigations, more than 150 prisoners have been released because it was shown they didn`t commit the crime for which they had been charged and convicted.
Showings are Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. at Montpelier City Hall, and Saturday, March 25 at 8:45 p.m. at Montpelier City Hall. Ticket availability is limited.
