How To Join, Dues, and Privileges
It's very simple to join: Download the ACLU membership form. Fill it in, add your check, and mail it back to become a card-carrying member. Welcome to the ACLU!
Basic membership is $20 individual, $30 joint; contributing memberships are $35 individual, $50 joint; supporting memberships are $75; sustaining memberships are $125; and limited income memberships are $5.
Your membership automatically makes you part of both the ACLU of Vermont and the national ACLU. To take some of the administrative burden off the affiliate staff, membership renewals are all handled by the national organization. You are assigned an anniversary date for your membership renewal, which will not change, no matter when you send in your membership dues.
As a member, you are entitled to vote in the election of members to the ACLU-Vermont's Board of Directors. Every member receives The Defender, ACLU-VT's three-times-a-year newsletter; a copy of the Civil Liberties Review, the annual report of the ACLU Foundation of Vermont; as well as alerts published by the national ACLU. In addition, a broad variety of special newsletters, public policy reports, handbooks, and brochures are available (click here to go to national publications link) .
Download recent issues of The Defender in PDF format: June 2005, June 2005 insert: Focus: Death Penalty; March 2005, March 2005 insert: Focus on Student Drug Testing. (If you don't already have Adobe Reader for reading PDF documents, you can download a free copy here.)
Members are kept informed on the status of legislative issues relating to civil liberties through legislative updates. Contact us at info@acluvt.org if you'd like to receive these updates, as well as other civil liberties-related news.
