Government Accountable To All

In mid-October, the ACLU of Vermont filed suit against the Vermont Department of Public Safety to force it to remove an individual listed on the public sex offender registry who should not have been listed.  We took this action because Vermonters have a right to be treated fairly by their government.  They should not have to get a lawyer and file a lawsuit before the government does the right thing.

ACLU of Vermont Wins Suit Against Residency Restriction

The Washington Superior Court has granted judgment to Christopher Hagan in his lawsuit against the City of Barre, striking the city’s residency restriction ordinance that barred individuals with certain criminal convictions from living within most of Barre.

Approaching A Crossroads

A lot of things around national security issues have happened very quickly in the last few weeks.

They have come as a wave of concern was growing about the direction the Obama administration was headed concerning practices left over from the Bush administration.
