Support The ACLU

The ACLU is facing a major shortfall this year due to a single past donor’s losses in financial markets. The story is well-known, and the fear is real that the important work we do will have to be trimmed. That’s a danger to civil liberties. As the well-known political commentator Glenn Greenwald noted in a recent post on Salon.com, “It is not hyperbole to say that, over the past decade, there has been no organization more important to the United States, the Constitution, and basic political liberties than the ACLU.” Here’s the full Greenwald post:

PATRIOT Act Renewal Delayed

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a two-month extension of the USA PATRIOT Act, key provisions of which were set to expire Dec. 31.

Summer 2010 Legal Interns

The ACLU of Vermont is now accepting applications for summer 2010 legal interns. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, transcript, and writing sample in PDF format to legal_intern_apps [at] acluvt.org. Applications will be considered as they arrive, with a decision made no later than February 15, 2010.
